Our Story
What started as a small group of friends learning to play volleyball has grown into a much bigger vision, to reshape how volleyball is played, shared, and experienced across the West. As more people joined, we saw the need for something different: a space where volleyball is fun, affordable, high-quality, and open to everyone. That’s how VR1 was created.
VR1 stands for Vanguard Rising, and the “1” reflects our drive to lead to be first in creating new standards, building strong communities, and making volleyball more accessible to all. As a not-for-profit, everything we do is about giving back and supporting the people around us.
Our goal is to grow the game across the western suburbs of Melbourne, all the way down to Geelong building a strong, connected volleyball community that lifts each other up on and off the court.
